CANADA THE 2ND SAFEST PLACE IN THE WORLD TO VISIT IF YOU’RE LGBTQ+, STUDY FINDS

Canada is the second safest spot in the world to live or visit for LGBTQ+ people.
Our country lists just below Sweden in a study using international sources to gather information on countries around the world.
The list, by Asher & Lyric, ranked 150 countries based on eight categories.
That includes legalized same-sex marriage, adoption recognition, worker protections and criminalization of violence, among others.
They were then given positive or negative points and then a letter grade. So, those that received an A grade are:
- Sweden
- Canada
- Norway
- Portugal
- Belgium
According to a 2017 study, Toronto is the best Canadian city for LGBTQ+. It ranked third best city of 100 around the world.
Vancouver is the second best Canadian city, but was placed at 17 worldwide.
And fun fact: Yellowknife and Whitehorse have the highest number of female same-sex relationships in Canada.
So, do you agree with these reports?
Vancouver has a few displays around town to display its support for LGBTQ+. That includes the rainbow art installation in Burnaby as well as pride-themed buses.
