Positive Living BC is Western Canada’s largest HIV organization with a membership of more than 6,000 individuals living with HIV. Our programs promote and/or provide an empowering and protected environment to facilitate involving and engaging people living with HIV. Our Board of Directors is composed solely of people living with HIV. We are committed to the effective implementation of GIPA/MIPA and the Denver principles in all areas of our organization.

Income Tax Clinic

It is that time of the year again and taxes need to be filed.  Our in house Volunteer  tax gurus will be available starting Monday February 25th and running until Tuesday April 30th.  The appointments will be daily between 1pm – 4pm.  Appointments can be booked starting Tuesday February 12th at our reception desk or by calling 604-893-2200. We are only able to do taxes for people with lower incomes and we cannot do taxes for people who own property.

 

 

Valentine’s Day Cake Pops

Join us in the Member’s Lounge on Thursday February 14th from 2 – 3:30 and learn to make cake pops.  Members will be given the supplies and opportunities to make a few cake pops each and give them to those they love on Valentine’s Day.

Bridge Club

Starting Monday February 11th join us in the Member’s Lounge and be part of the NEW Bridge Club.  This is open to anyone, whether you have played Bridge before or have no idea how.  Starting at 10am, there will be 30 minutes of teaching and then at 10:30 playing will start.  As Bridge requires 4 people, newbies will encouraged to partner with a seasoned player to learn the skills of the game.

Working collaboratively with other health care and wellness providers, the Peer Navigators provide direct health system navigation, health advocacy, education and linkage to relevant specialized health, social and emotional well-being and wellness resources related to HIV. Peer Navigators network with front line service providers in order to promote the Positive Living Society’s Peer Navigation Services.

28th annual Canadian Conference on HIV/AIDS Research

Did you know that Saskatchewan has the highest rate of HIV in Canada and Indigenous populations across Canada are more affected by HIV than other groups? Are you interested in learning more about the disease and what Canadian researchers and community leaders from across Canada are doing to end HIV here in Canada and globally? The 28th annual Canadian Conference on HIV/AIDS Research – to be held May 9-12, 2019 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – will be an opportunity for you learn about HIV, recent scientific advances, treatment and prevention options, and a chance to meet and learn from other community members from across the country. To attend the Conference, the registration link is noted below and those eligible can apply for a Community Registration Scholarships which will allow up to 80 community members to attend the event for free. Red Bucket Brigade

On Friday November 30th (the day before World AIDS Day) Positive Living BC will be doing a World AIDS Day Transit Canvass for small change donations outside of the Granville and Waterfront Skytrain Stations. Shift times will be 7:00am to 10:00am or 10:00am- 1:00pm. The money raised will go directly to help fund Positive Living BC’s Programs and Services.
